These terms of service apply to the use of the KorttiMarket service (korttimarket.fi, the "Service"). The Service is operated by [Company name Oy], business ID [business ID], [address] ("KorttiMarket", "we"). By registering or using the Service, you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, do not use the Service.
Step 1: What KorttiMarket is
KorttiMarket is an online marketplace where users can sell and buy trading cards and related products by auction or at a fixed price (Buy Now).
KorttiMarket is a venue for trading, not a party to the sale. A sale is always between the buyer and the seller. We do not own, sell or buy the items listed, we do not review every listing in advance and we do not handle payments. The buyer pays the seller directly in the agreed way, for example by bank transfer, MobilePay or cash on pickup.
Step 2: User accounts
- You must register to use the Service as a buyer or seller.
- An account can be created by a person aged 15 or older. Purchases and bids by persons under 18 require the consent of a guardian. A minor is responsible for purchases made with the guardian's permission as provided by Finnish law.
- A business or organisation may create an account if the person creating it is authorised to bind the business. The business must mark its account as a business account and provide the information required on the page For business sellers.
- The information you provide must be accurate and up to date. Keep your email address and contact details current so that the other party to a sale and we can reach you.
- One person may hold only one account. An account may be transferred to someone else only with our permission.
- You are responsible for the security of your account and for all activity under your credentials. Tell us immediately if you suspect your credentials have fallen into the wrong hands.
- You can delete your account at any time in Account settings. Deleting your account does not release you from obligations arising from sales already made.
Step 3: Rules for listings
As a seller you are responsible for your listing being truthful and complete. A listing must:
- contain a description and photos that match the item for sale. Preferably use your own photos of the card (front and back);
- describe the card's condition honestly, see Condition guide, and any defects, bends, alterations or repairs;
- state the grading (company, grade and cert number) if the card is graded, see Grading guide;
- state the shipping methods and their costs and any pickup option;
- use the correct category and card details.
You may not sell items on the prohibited items list. You must have the right to sell the item listed, meaning it is yours or you are entitled to sell it on someone else's behalf.
We may remove or hide a listing that breaches these terms or the law, or ask you to supplement it.
Step 4: Auctions and bids
Requirements for bidding. Bidding requires a logged-in account with a verified email address.
A bid is binding. When you place a bid, you make a binding offer to buy the item at the amount you bid. The auction ends at the end time shown in the listing and the buyer with the highest bid wins. The winner must complete the purchase.
Automatic bidding. When you enter a maximum bid, the Service bids on your behalf one increment at a time until someone exceeds your maximum. The price shown is the second-highest maximum plus one increment, capped at the leader's maximum, and if two maximums are equal the earlier bid wins. Your maximum bid is binding until someone has outbid it. An example is on How buying works.
Last-minute extension. If a bid that changes the price or the leader is placed when less than two minutes remain, the auction ends at the time of the bid + 2 minutes. The extension can repeat several times, and by default there is no limit on the number of extensions. A leading bidder raising only their own maximum bid does not extend the auction. The bid increments, the duration and extension values and any Buy Now price are shown in the listing, and we may change them as generally applied settings.
Reserve price. A seller may set a reserve price for an auction. If the highest bid does not reach the reserve when the auction ends, the seller is not obliged to sell and the buyer is not obliged to buy. If the reserve is met, the seller must sell the item to the winner.
Retracting a bid. A bid cannot be retracted. If you made an obvious mistake, such as typing too many zeros, contact the seller and our support at [email protected] immediately. We may remove an obviously erroneous bid case by case.
Bid manipulation is prohibited. You may not bid on your own listings, ask a friend or another account to push up the price, agree with others about bidding or otherwise artificially influence the outcome of an auction ("shill bidding"). Do not place bids you do not intend to honour.
Step 5: Buy Now
In a Buy Now listing, the sale is made when the buyer confirms the purchase at the stated price. The confirmation is binding. If a listing has several units, the buyer chooses the quantity and the quantity decreases with the purchase. The seller cannot refuse an already confirmed sale unless it concerns an obvious pricing error or the loss of the item, which must be reported to the buyer without delay.
Step 6: Completing the sale
Once a sale is made:
- The buyer and seller must contact each other without delay, and no later than three (3) days after the sale, and agree on payment and delivery.
- The buyer must pay the price and shipping costs in the way stated by the seller within the agreed time. If no time has been agreed, payment must be made within five (5) days of the sale.
- The seller must ship or hand over the item without undue delay after receiving payment or as agreed. We recommend tracked shipping for valuable cards, see Shipping.
- Payment and delivery take place entirely between the buyer and the seller. We are not responsible for payments reaching the recipient or for shipments being lost or delayed.
If either party does not complete the sale, the other party may demand performance or cancel the sale in accordance with general law. Report problems to us at [email protected] so that we can take action against the user where needed.
Step 7: Cancellations
- The seller may end a listing early only if no bids have been placed, or if the item has been lost or damaged, or the listing contains a material error that cannot be corrected. In that case the seller must tell the bidders and us the reason. Unjustified cancellation during an auction or after the sale breaches these terms.
- The buyer cannot retract a bid or a confirmed purchase unless the seller agrees or the law provides otherwise.
- Items sold by a business seller to consumers are additionally subject to the statutory right of withdrawal, see section 8.
Step 8: Consumer protection and responsibility for the sale
The legal position of a sale depends on who is selling:
- Sales between private persons (C2C). The Consumer Protection Act does not apply, because the seller is not acting as a trader. The sale is governed by, among others, the Finnish Sale of Goods Act. The seller must describe the item correctly, and the buyer may rely on a defect if the item differs from the information in the listing. There is no right of withdrawal.
- Items sold by a business or trader to a consumer (B2C). The Consumer Protection Act applies, and the consumer has, among others, a 14-day right of withdrawal in distance selling and the right to remedies for defects. The obligations of business sellers are described on For business sellers. The right of withdrawal also applies to auctions where the seller is a trader and the buyer a consumer, because an online auction is not a "public auction" in the sense of the exception to the right of withdrawal.
A listing must state whether a private person or a trader is selling. A trader must mark themselves as a business seller. If you sell regularly and with the aim of making a profit, you may be regarded as a trader even if you have not registered a business.
A consumer always retains their statutory rights. Nothing in these terms limits them.
Step 9: Feedback
After a sale, the parties may give each other 1–5 star feedback and optionally a comment.
- Feedback must be based on a real sale and be truthful.
- Do not threaten or insult, and do not demand extra benefits or money through feedback. Feedback must not be used for blackmail.
- Do not leave feedback from your own or friends' accounts to manipulate ratings.
- We may remove feedback that breaches the rules or contains personal data or abusive content. Feedback can be reported.
Step 10: Prohibited conduct
In the Service it is prohibited, among other things, to:
- sell counterfeit or unauthorised ("proxy") cards as genuine;
- sell altered, trimmed, coloured or restored cards without clearly disclosing the alteration;
- sell stolen or unlawfully obtained goods;
- sell items that infringe copyright, trademarks or other rights;
- post misleading listings, manipulate bids or circumvent the Service, for example by moving a sale outside the Service during the auction to avoid possible future fees;
- commit fraud or phishing, or harass other users;
- disrupt the Service, collect data automatically without permission or breach security;
- publish unlawful or inappropriate content.
A full list is on Prohibited items.
Step 11: Sanctions
If you breach these terms or the law, we may:
- remove or hide a listing or feedback;
- issue a warning;
- restrict features of your account or temporarily suspend it;
- permanently close your account, especially for repeated or serious breaches (for example fraud, counterfeits, bid manipulation);
- report the matter to the authorities if we suspect a crime.
We give reasons for our decisions and tell you about the options for appeal, see Report content. We may take immediate action where necessary to protect users or to comply with the law.
Step 12: Content and rights
You own the content you publish (photos, texts and feedback). You grant KorttiMarket a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free right to display and store the content in the Service and to use it for operating and promoting the Service (for example as a listing preview image) for as long as the content is in the Service. You warrant that you have the right to publish the content. Do not upload images you do not hold the rights to.
The Service's software, design and trademarks belong to us or our licensors. Pokémon, Magic: The Gathering, Yu-Gi-Oh!, One Piece, Lorcana and other product names mentioned are trademarks of their respective owners; KorttiMarket is not affiliated with them.
Step 13: Limitation of liability
Because we are a marketplace and not a party to the sale:
- we are not responsible for the quality, authenticity, condition or legality of items for sale or for the accuracy of listings;
- we are not responsible for agreements, payments or deliveries between buyer and seller, or for the other party fulfilling their obligations;
- we do not guarantee that the Service operates without interruption or errors. We may carry out maintenance outages.
Our liability to a user is limited to direct damage caused by our intent or gross negligence or by our material breach of these terms, and is capped at [amount] euros per damage event, to the extent permitted by law. We are not liable for indirect damage such as lost profit. The limitations do not apply to damage caused intentionally or by gross negligence, personal injury or liability that cannot be limited by law. They also do not limit a consumer's mandatory rights.
Step 14: Notices and complaints
You can report content you suspect is illegal or in breach of these terms as instructed on Report content. If we make a decision that restricts your content or account, you will receive a reasoned decision and can complain about it in our internal complaint-handling system and, where needed, seek resolution from an out-of-court dispute settlement body, as provided in the Digital Services Act (DSA).
Step 15: Processing of personal data
We process your personal data in accordance with the privacy policy. We only use strictly necessary cookies in the Service, see Cookies.
Step 16: Changes to these terms
We may update these terms, for example when legislation, the Service or the business changes. We notify users of material changes by email or in the Service at least [30] days before they take effect. If you do not accept the changed terms, you can stop using the Service and delete your account before they take effect. If you continue to use the Service after they take effect, you accept the new terms. Sales already made are governed by the terms in force when the sale was made.
Step 17: Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by Finnish law. Sales between users are governed by Finnish law unless mandatory legislation provides otherwise.
We aim to resolve disagreements by negotiation in the first instance. Contact [email protected].
If you are a consumer, you can take a dispute to the district court of your place of residence or to the Finnish Consumer Disputes Board (kuluttajariita.fi). The Consumer Advisory Service (kuluttajaneuvonta.fi) provides free advice. In disputes other than consumer disputes, disputes are resolved in the first instance in the [city] District Court.
